In return, the Astros send Matt Bush, Maikel Garcia, Stevie Wilkerson and their 6th and 9th Round picks in the 2023 draft. Toronto will also cover the salaries of Espino and LeBlanc. Confirmed: In an attempt to maximize all pitching slots both Espino and Leblanc give me relief options from starter slots. Middle relievers aren’t usually very productive but they at least give me a chance at that relief win. Today I learned that Leblanc will be taking Gants spot in the Cardinals rotation. So I guess I got lucky on that one. So Gant will be my middle relief guy. It’s tough giving up a good prospect (Garcia is off to a great start) and future picks for two older pitchers with average track records but the top of the league is tough and I’m trying to get any advantage I can. I personally believe Garcia will make this trade worth it for the Toronto by himself but no prospect is certain so two lottery tickets picks were added to offset the risk. Wilkerson and Bush were thrown in for cap relief and both have short contracts. Wilkerson has shown decent play in the past so who knows he could wind up being useful. All in all I applaud Toronto for turning two plus 30 free agent pitchers into two future draft picks and promising MI prospect.

The extra 2022 FYPD draft pick was sent to compensate for a longer than expected Wilkerson contract. HOU is great to deal with and clearly the odds on favorite to win the league this year. Huzzah
