Roster Rules
40 man Rosters
•) This roster includes 18-man starting roster and up to 22 reserves (bench). All players on the 40-man roster will have a contract and will count against their team's salary.

BENCH X 22 (bench slots can be occupied by any position).
•) To remove a player from the 40-man, you must waive the player and have no other team claim the player. If a player clears waivers, the player is then considered a Paid Minor Leaguer.
Paid Minor Leaguers
•) Paid Minor Leaguers have been waived but keep their contract and count against the team's salary cap.
•) The only way they become a paid minor is if they pass through unclaimed.
Minor Leaguers
•) Players on the 200-man minor league roster are available to be called up to the 40-man roster. These are the guys that are all under rookie restrictions, OR have not officially been called up after hitting their restrictions. (130AB/50IP)
•) They can be called up and down as you wish, until they hit their rookie restrictions. In which they will keep their $400K contract.
•) You are not allowed to pick up minor league players like free agents.
•) There will be 3 ways players can be added to your minor league roster:
1) Trade with another team
2) Minor League free agent draft
(This will include any minor league player not currently on any roster of a team) 3) FYPD –
(for players drafted in June MLB Draft & newly signed Int. Free Agents)•)Teams may promote any players from their minor leagues as long as they have the available roster spot/salary cap.
•)When promoting a prospect (player who does not currently have a contract), the initial contract will be ARB1. ($400,000)
•)Promoted minor league prospects will have an indefinite $400,000 ARB1 contract until reaching rookie limits (130 AB / 50 IP), at which point, their contract end date will be the year where the limits are reached + 6 years (i.e., if a player surpasses the limits in 2013, his initial contract will expire in 2019, giving his team seven years of service, with annual raises based on arbitration)
Revocable Waivers
•)GMs can waive players. Successfully waiving a player allows a GM to move a player from the 40-man or to trade a player (when after trade deadline).
•)When a team waives a player, other teams may claim the waived player. Prior to the 1st calendar month of baseball starting, Priority order is determined by prior year's standings.
•)After the all-star break, priority is determined by current year's standings. Like MLB, priority is also based on the league of the team who waives the player.
For example:
If a National League team waives a player, then every team in the National League would have priority before the lowest ranked American League player. Players wishing to place a claim can simply respond to the waiver post with the word "claim". Once a team successfully claims a player, that move down 5 spots in priority (1st priority team would be come 6th priority team, ahead of the previous 6th priority team)
•)A player will be on waivers for 48-hours. If a team claims a player off waivers and has a viable claim as described above, his current team (the "waiving team") may choose one of the following options:
1.rescind the request and keep the player on its major league roster, effectively canceling the waiver.
2.arrange a trade with the claiming team for that player within 48 hours of the claim;
3.do nothing and allow the claiming team to assume the player's existing contract, and place the player on its active major league roster.
•)If a player is claimed and the waiving team exercises its rescission option, the waiving team may not use the option again for that player in that season—a subsequent waiver would be irrevocable with a claiming team getting the player essentially for nothing.
•)If no team claims a player off waivers the player has cleared waivers and will be assigned to paid minors.
There are four waiver periods. A specific player can only be waived once each period.
Period 1: February 16th - May 1st
Period 2: May 2nd - July 31st
Period 3: August 1st - November 10th
Period 4: November 11th - February 15th
