Rangers Receive: Salvador Perez C/KC MJ Melendez C/KC (Spec) Jonathan Stroman SP-RP/ARZ (Spec) Amir Garrett RP/CIN Jason Hayward OF/CHC Santiago Espinal 3B/TOR
Royals Receive: 2022 Draft Pick Round 1 Pick 29 (Max Muncy SS/OAK) 2023 Draft Pick Round 7 (TEX) Keibert Ruiz C/WSH Luis Rengifo 3B-SS-OF (LAA) Kevin Kiermaier OF (TB) Patrick Corbin SP/WSH *TEX agrees to cover 5.7K of PC's salary in 2022, 6.2K- '23* Bryan Lavastida C/CLE (SP) Matt Liberatore SP/STL (Spec) Jose Corniell SP/TEX (Spec)
This was a difficult deal to finally do as Liberatore is a fine young arm, but there was a need to diversify some. As the Rangers have good depth in the minors for pitching and can take the hit, the gains from Salvy/Melendez could pay dividends. Repots also suggest Melendez could gain other positional eligibility which would only give his value a boon. An underrated acquisition, Espinal is a serviceable backup 3B who could handle some extended time if needed. Finally, Stroman is a dart throw for a prospect pitcher, but was worth the gamble. This deal would not have been made possible if the Royals were not willing to take Corbin, who could bounce back, but Texas is choosing to move on from. Given depth at SS the rangers agreed to deal Muncy, but this allowed the club to retain a nice young SP spec Texas values more

Salary was the big issue for me on the season. Clearing some roster spots on Offense. Gaining top prospects and soon to be MLB ready players. It did hurt to trade away Salvy:Melendez
I did gain SP which is huge in this league as we’ve learned! Although I think I only bettered my team, while fixing salary issues!
Great talks with Texas who has done a great job turning that team around! Glad to see it!
